Their game, Harold is an interesting mix between Pitfall and Lemmings that gives you that hardcore, but unique gameplay that gamers have been asking for. Loris grew up in France and could have opened up shop in his home town or the west cost of the U.S. but made Miami his home. The Obsolete Gamer Show was honored to feature Hollyanne Setola in our latest episode where we talked about her history of gaming from being introduced to gaming by her grandmother who worked at NASA, to her Counter Strike days with her teammates. We also talked about the current landscape of gaming and todays gamers and the difference between now and only a few years ago. Our discussion about bullying and internet trolls sheds some light on what many, but specifically women deal with in gaming today
Nima Fakhara was born in Tehran, Iran and has composed for film, television and videos games. For this game he used traditional Persian instruments to insure an authentic feeling within the game. In our interview we talk about how players have received the game so far which is currently out on Steam and how he feels the game represented the events that unfolded during that time. We also cover his love of music and his journey from Tehran to Los Angeles.
When you have a company known for great games you become even more curious about the people behind them so when we had a chance to talk with Kevin Mentz from Daedalic Entertainment we were excited to do so. We were already fortunate enough to have a written gamer profile from Claas Paletta and for Kevin, we learned his favorite classic game is The Battle of Olympus. We also talked about his move from playing games to wanting to create them and finally working for Daedalic and the number of games he personally worked on including Memoria. Overall, a fun interview with a lot of game talk and trailers from a number of Daedalic titles including, Memoria, The Night of the Rabbit, Blackguards 2 and Randal’s Monday so check it out.
Bringing gamers together in your community can be a daunting challenge be it for a LAN party or an event. Our guest, Andru Fratarcangeli has taken it to the next level working in South Florida to bring together gamers, educators and business to elevate the gaming community as a whole. His work not only connects gamers in South Florida with local events and meet-up’s, but gives those looking to enter the gaming field another path beyond leaving the state and he also is bringing a new video game convention to Miami as well. GaCuCon is the Game Culture Con Cruise & Expo, it features a 1-day Expo event in Miami followed by a 4-Day cruise. We talk to Andru about GaCuCon and what you can expect if you sign up for this event.

We’re talking Alienware on the latest episode of OGS with Alienware general manager at Dell, Frank Azor. Along with Raymond Watkins, technical marketing manager we decided that instead of spending time going over hardware trends and the latest tech we would discuss some of the history of Alienware and the culture behind the company. Both J.A. Laraque and Ignacio worked several years at Alienware in Miami Florida before starting Obsolete Gamer so this was as much about reminiscing as about covering some topics and tackling some misconceptions of importance.
